Motivated

At my last Weight Watcher weigh in, I was hoping for a 2 lb loss that would take me to my 1st goal of 5%. It was bitter sweet to see a 1.8 lb loss on the scale that morning. I was relieved to see a loss because during the week I experienced some set backs that caused me to consider using my "No Weigh In Pass". I braved the scale and was rewarded with a loss! I was very happy to face the fear of a no loss week or worse, a weight gain and to step off the scale victorious. The last .2 lbs before achieving my 1st goal have been a good motivator this week.

Much like last week's meeting topic of finding non-scale ways to judge success and non-scale ways to reward success, I am exploring ways to stay motivated that are not scale related. I'm tracking a bit more, getting a bit more organized and checking my ActiveLink a bit more to keep my self on course.

One of my previous attempts at WW, I attended a meeting that spoke about anchoring success with something tangible. Our meeting leader handed us a glass bead and walked us through anchoring a success or a goal to that bead to remind us of our hard work and the hard work ahead of us. The following week we received another bead. This continued over the next several weeks until we each had a small collection of beads. It was exciting to see our progress before our eyes. I felt accomplished even on days when the scale did not reflect the hard work I felt I put in that week.

I decided to use that anchoring tactic this go round and decided to put my 4-Week WW Key Chain to use. That was my first anchor of success. I stuck with the program for 4 weeks and I am still at it...and losing too! I purchased a simple charm bracelet (the bead kind) at Wal-Mart. It is a simple bangle by Hallmark that has a spring hinge that you can add beads to. I added the charm from the keychain by attaching it to a dangle bead. I added a rinestone bead next to it to anchor my 1st 10 lb loss. The bracelet came with a charm that is engraved "Celebrate Life" on the front, and "One moment at a time." on the back. Fitting for this journey, my celebration of life.

I purchased several other beads and stored them on the keyring from the WW Charm. These are my next goals. The Wonder Woman charm on the far left will live on my bracelet after I reach my 1st 5% goal! The rest will follow in 10 lb beads followed by a big pink bead at 50 lbs. I intend on adding to the bracelet for more milestones. Watch out world, here I come!

ActiveLink Censor

I was researching Nike Fuel Bands, UP and the FitBit activity tracking censors to help me with stepping up my activity. When I registered for my Dub Dub membership, my leader pointed out the new WW AciveLInk censor. The buy in price was reasonable compared to Fuel, UP & FitBit, however there is a monthly subscription fee. The selling point was that it translates my activity into what Weigh Watchers speak. It monitors my activity and translates it into points for me. No longer do I have to guestimate intensity and time for point value.

I completed my assessment period this past week and Monday was able to see what my "Normal" activity looked like. I was impressed that I was earning on average 2 pts a day. Hmmmm, who knew? I certainly did not.

Right now I am banking my Activity Points earned and not swapping them out yet. I'll save that for later down the line when I have fewer daily points and many Activity Points. I cannot wait to hit the gym to reach the challenge goals set for me for this week.
Back on program and off to a good start. 1st week down and 4.8 lbs gone. Not too bad 2014. Not too bad.

I've been a Big Brother fan since season 1. Bullying has been an accepted for of game play and strategy. Most notable bully, Evel Dick, used his nasty ways to strong arm his fellow houseguests as his game tactics in season 8. But I did not agree when he physically assaulted a fellow houseguests when he threw a glass of tea on her. That crossed a line and is inexcusable. My opinion is he should have been expelled but he was allows do to continue in the game. I regret not petitioning his eviction.

This season of Big Zbrother has had its fair share of nasty comments and bullying tactics. None so shocking as racist remarks about the Korean and Black housemates. Racial slurs have been used in nasty and malicious tactics this season. The maker of these controversial remarks is Aaryn Gries who denies making the racist slurs. In the wee hours of this morning she crossed a line when she vandelized the bed of the black houseguests, Howard and Candice. She has crossed a line and her bigotry antics should no longer be tolerated.

I am not going to sit silent and sit quietly while these racist antics are being used as acceptable game play on Big Brother 15. I just signed the petition "CBS Television Network: To expel current contestant of Big Brother 15 Aaryn Gries" and wanted to see if you could help by adding your name.

Our goal is to reach 25,000 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here.

I must make a stand for what is right and ask you to join me by signing the petition too. Here is my statement if protest. Agree it disagree with me. I respect that. But if you agree with me, feel free to read my statement submitted with my petition signature:
I am deeply offended, being a US citizen of a minority population, that Aaryn has progressed past just a verbal attack on the minority houseguests of Big Brother 15. She has progressed to more threatening tactics of flipping the bed of the black houseguests in an attempt to bully and threaten them as less than. This terrorist action is the equivalent to a burning cross of the KKK. Malicious and threatening terrorist actions should not be tolerated as game play and CBS should expel Aaryn. A line has been crossed. Verbal abuse is often used and is excepted as game tactics on this show and I can understand why the network has allowed this to go on, regardless of making statements that the network does not agree. But to allow a houseguest to threaten with racist and bigotted actions is inexcusable and immediate action should be required. If aaryn is not expelled immediately I will boycot CBS and all their sponsors and send written notices to all sponsors the reasons for my boycott. I will also leverage social media to expose the bigotry allowed on your network and encourage others to join in the boycott. Again, a line has been crossed with "cross burning-like" actions and I believe Aaryn is a threat to the well being of all other houseguests. She is no role model and her actions should no longer be allowed. Do what is right CBS. No action will prove you are only in it for the greedy money and that you have no conscience or regard for the civil rights of your houseguests. Do not set the world back 50 years by allowing the racist terror attacks to continue.

If you are still not convinced and have the Live Feeds, I dare you to watch the camera 3 & 4 feeds from last night (9/11) at around 10:45pm. I dare you to not be compelled to stand up against hate after watching that heartbreaking video. I'll post video if I can find it posted somewhere.
